Sacrament of Reconciliation
Last night children on the Sacramental Programme received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. Father David, Father Kevin, Father John and Father Emmanuel heard the children's confessions and many of the adults received the sacrament too. It was a lovely celebration. Congratulations to the children.
Mass To Celebrate the Feast of the Annunciation
This week Father David celebrated Mass in school with us for the Feast of the Annunciation. As usual pupils from each year group took part. We were able to stop and reflect on how much we are listening to God and saying 'yes' to what He asks of us. It was lovely to be joined by members of our families.
Lenten Reconciliation Service
This year our Lenten Reconciliation Service, celebrated by Father David in school, was led by Year 5. They dramatised the gospel story of the Unforgiving Servant. This was followed by an examination of conscience. and some prayers. Father Emmanuel joined Father David, and all pupils in Year 4-6 had the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It was a very prayerful and thought provoking service.
The season of Lent started with our Ash Wednesday Mass. Father David came to school to celebrate with us. He blessed and distributed the ashes during our Mass. We were joined by many family members and parishioners. Father gave us lots of ideas for things we can do during Lent.
We started our New year by celebrating our Three Kings' Mass. Father David celebrated Mass in school with us. Our own Three Kings launched their charity appeal for Mary's Meals. An empty plate was brought up during the offertory to remind us all that lots of children are not able to learn in school because they are hungry. As always it was lovely to be joined by family members.
Our children put on a magnificent performance of the Nativity. It was enjoyed immensely by everyone who saw it.
Advent Love In Action
Our children always try to help people less fortunate than themselves in Advent. This year our Three Kings organised a collection of practical items for people who are or have been homeless. The items were given to a local charity to help local people. We cannot, of course, do this without the generosity of our children's families.
Father David blessed our Advent Wreath and celebrated our Advent Mass in school with us. This marked the beginning of our Advent preparations as we waited for the birth of Jesus.
Our Advent Reconciliation Service
Father David and members of the Chaplaincy Team led a Reconciliation Service for KS2 pupils. Year 3 joined the service as they are preparing to make their First Reconciliation. Monsignor Chaloner joined Father David for the Sacramental part of the service. It helped us to think very carefully about preparing our hearts for Jesus.
Our Mass to celebrate the Feast of All Saints
Father David celebrated Mass in school with us. It was lovely to be joined by members of our families and parishioners.
Father David has been visiting classes and meeting our children. He has been teaching them new tunes to parts of the Mass. Father is going to visit every three weeks - and bring his guitar. We are looking forward to his visits.
Today we went to Saint Mary's Church to celebrate our Harvest Mass with Father David. It was lovely to be joined by some of our families.
Today Father David came into school to celebrate our first Mass of the school Year. It was Father David's first school Mass with us and we hope he felt very welcome. Our Year 6 pupils were presented with their gold ties and the new members of our Chaplaincy Team were presented with their special ties. Lots of family members came to celebrate with us. It was a fantastic start to our new school year.
Our Leavers' Mass
Today we celebrated our Leavers' Mass with Father Peter at church. We have many happy times to look back on and be thankful for. Everyone in Year 6 took part in this very special Mass. The pupils know they are taking our love and prayers with them as they prepare for the next part of the journey.
We also celebrated our final Mass with Father Peter as he is leaving us shortly. He has been a great support to our school family and has celebrated the sacraments with our children, as well as numerous Masses and services. We will miss him and send our love and prayers with him.
Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul
Today Father Peter celebrated Mass with us for the Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. It was a special occasion because our children who have made their First Holy Communion were able to receive Jesus for the first time in one of our school Masses. It was lovely to be joined by family members and parishioners. We are sad that it is the last time Father Peter will say Mass in the school building but we will continue our faith journey building on the love and guidance he has given us.
First Holy Communion
Children from the Sacramental Programme made their First Holy Communion in a wonderful celebration at Saint Mary's Church. Every child took part in the Mass celebrated by Father Peter and Father Challoner.
