Learn and Grow Together in Christ

Year 4

Welcome to Year 4

Year 4 are taught by Mrs Blezard all day on a Monday, Tuesday and then Wednesday morning. Then Miss Whittaker teaches the class Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday and Friday. Our class teaching assistant is Miss O'Horo, and we also have Mrs Arif and Mr Baldwin working in class with specific roles.

Our mornings are filled with English and Maths learning, this also includes handwriting, spelling and guided reading sessions. Then in the afternoons we have fun exploring the wider curriculum, including; History, Geography, Spanish, Music, Art and Design, Design Technology, Computing, Science, R.E and PSHE.

We are very lucky to have the music service come in for our music lessons on a Wednesday afternoon to teach us how to play the Ukulele, everyone will end the year being able to read, play and perform music with their new talent.

Reading

Every member of the class is allocated a book from the school reading scheme. The expectation is for them to read at home as much as possible and are rewarded for regularly changing their books. They are asked to bring their book in every day so that our teaching assistants can hear them read and so that books can be changed.

P.E.

Our P.E session is on a Wednesday afternoon. Please make sure children wear the school PE kit to school on a Wednesday, including their school jumper. We also go swimming on a Monday morning. Each child should come to school in their normal uniform, with a bag with their swim kit and a towel.

Homework

Every member of the class has a times tables rockstar account which they can use at home to help them learn their times tables. In summer term they will each complete a government test on their knowledge of their times tables. So this homework is vital to support your child.

We also ask for your child to read regularly at home as part of their homework.

Throughout topics we can set challenges for the children to enhance their learning of the topics.

We look forward to being able to work with you and your child this year,  and please do not hesitate to contact us if you need to discuss anything.
