SEND
At St Mary's RC Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels valued, included and supported to reach their full potential. Guided by our mission to "Learn and Grow Together in Christ", we work closely with pupils, families and external professionals to remove barriers to learning and enable all children to achieve, belong and thrive.
Our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) is Mrs Mary Haida, Deputy Headteacher and SENDCo. Mrs Haida leads SEND provision across the school and works in partnership with staff, families and external agencies to ensure that pupils with additional needs receive the support they require.
Mrs Haida is supported by Mrs Kirsty Flynn, our SEND Consultant, who works in school one day each week through ADYSs. Together they work alongside teachers, teaching assistants, pastoral staff and external professionals to provide high-quality provision for pupils with SEND.
We recognise that every child is unique and that all children may need different levels of support at different times throughout their school journey. We are committed to identifying needs early, listening to children and families, and ensuring that support is personalised, effective and responsive to individual needs.
If you have concerns about your child's learning, development, wellbeing or progress, we would encourage you to speak to your child's class teacher in the first instance. Class teachers know their pupils well and are usually best placed to discuss any concerns and explain the support already in place.
Where additional advice or support is required, class teachers work closely with Mrs Haida and Mrs Flynn to ensure that pupils receive the most appropriate support.
