Governor Pen Portraits

Tina Bradley (Chair of Governors)

Hello, my name is Tina Bradley. I have been a Foundation Governor at St Mary’s since 2019. When the school joined the Romero Academy I was elected as Chair of Governors.

I was a teacher at St Mary’s in the 1970’s, 80’s and early 90’s. I taught in the nursery, key stage 1 and key stage 2 classes. I was the English co-ordinator for several years. I was a headteacher in two catholic primary schools before retirement. Although there have been many changed in education since my retirement, since becoming a governor I have worked hard to keep abreast with all developments. I visit school regularly. One of the joys of being a governor is spending time with the children and listening to their views. I share their views and ideas with the headteacher and deputy headteacher. I believe that we have a very good school. I am impressed by the dedication and care constantly given to the children by all staff.

Daniel Frazer (Vice-Chair of Governors)

I am currently serving as Vice Chair of Governors and also as the English link Governor.  I am actively involved in Parish life and have been a Foundation Governor at St. Mary’s since 2021.  As a former pupil, I wanted to give something back to the school and play my part in helping pupils reach their full potential.

As an IIA Certified Internal Auditor working for a Local Authority, with several year's experience auditing maintained schools, I am well placed to support St. Mary's with financial decision making and can actively contribute towards overall governance.

Lynne Oliver (Foundation Governor)

I am a retired teacher who held a senior management post at St Mary’s College in Blackburn for almost 25 years. When I retired I volunteered to help at East Lancashire Hospice where I worked for several years. Upon joining the Parish of the Good Samaritan I became a Foundation Governor at St Mary’s School and I am one of the two Synod Representatives for the Parish. It’s lovely to be part of a very caring and supportive environment.

Rosie Baldwin (Foundation Governor)

Hello my name is Margaret Baldwin. But I go by Rosie. I'm a foundation governor. I'm married to Chris, who is a Teaching Assistant at school. We have 3 children aged 22, 15 and 10. I have been a foundation governor for the last 6 years. But I've been involved with St Mary's for 30 years, as my nephews also attended the school. I enjoy gardening, knitting, cooking and walking.

Amanda McLaren (Parent Governor)

Hi, I wanted to become a school governor as I feel it’s important to support the school and help from a parent’s perspective.

Career wise I run a large area of Telecoms sites, I have vast experience in managing people, giving feedback and improving performance. I love meeting new people in both work and socially , and I can definitely talk for England . I am looking forward to my new journey with St Mary’s.

Ian Jones (Headteacher)

Hi, I've worked at St Mary's for over 20 years and became the headteacher in 2007, having previously served as Deputy Headteacher.   My links with the school go back much further, as I am also a former pupil of St Marys.  I feel very proud to serve the community I grew up in and want to achieve the very best outcomes for our pupils.
